Got no entryway? No problem! You can fake one using this small apartment DIY! All you need is a blank wall and a couple of cozy decors and you’re all set! Are you ready to make your own hanging entryway organizer? Let’s get started!
You will need:
8 strips of leather
4 pcs. S-hooks
2 pcs. flat back hooks
2 pcs. nail-in hooks
1 pc. dowel
1 round mirror
A measuring tape
A hole punch
Step 1: Installing the Hooks
Start by gluing the 2 pieces of flat back hooks at the back of the round mirror. Let the glue dry completely overnight. Get 2 of the leather strips and cut them into 8 inches in length. Then, cut slits at the end of each leather strips.
Get a measuring tape and mark the part of the wall where you want to hang the organizer from using a pencil. Make sure the measurement is spaced correctly so the organizer will be level when hung. Hammer the nail-in hooks into the marked spots.
Step 2: Attaching the Leather Strips
Now that the hooks are installed, you can start attaching the leather strips. Put the slit ends of the first leather strip you cut into 8-inches in length a few inches down to cover the hook you hammered into the wall. Fold the leather strip in half and push it onto the hook to create a loop.
Repeat to the other end of the wall, folding and pushing the other leather strip onto the hook to create the second loop. These loops will hold the dowel in place.
Step 3: Assembling the Organizer
Once the mirror’s glued hooks are dry, attach two leather looks onto the back of the hooks. Check if the loops could hold the weight of the mirror then simply slide the mirror’s leather loops into the dowel, one loop at a time.
Using the rest of the leather strips, create leather hooks by cutting the straps into equal length and making little slits at the end, folding them over the dowel then inserting the S-hooks to secure the cut ends. These leather hooks will hold anything from bags to hats, scarves to cardigans.
There you have it, your stylish new entryway organizer is complete! Complement it with a chair, an area rug, a little shelf to hold your keys, a couple of potted plants and you’re all set. Remember, this small apartment DIY is versatile so you can also hang it in the bedroom or living room.
